Bob Young, co-founder of Red Hat, has been an entrerpenuer most of his life, and he caught on to the value of open source technologies through working with Linux in the early 90’s. He become concivinced in the future of Linux after seeing a custom build used to run a supercomputer at the Goddard Space Flight Center. He eventually figured out the company would focus on creating value through its services rather than its products after learning about the business model of IBM. He also recognized the importance of working with the company’s competitors to solve problems and produce better, more robust products. Young was the pioneer that helped Red Hat start its business operations and the company owes a great deal to his vision and understanding.
