  • India Opens Up to Operating System Ubuntu

    by Ben Pearson
    August 11th, 2014

India is now the fastest growing market for the open source operating system Ubuntu with it achieving a growth of 50% year-over-year. Canonical has benefited greatly from a partnership with Dell and HP to include Ubuntu on laptops sold in the country, and the low-cost alternative to proprietary operating systems has made Ubuntu a popular choice. Canonical has also achieved good growth in the public sector in India through deals to provide 61,000 laptops to the University of Delhi and 28,000 laptops to Assam’s Amtron.
