It is a Linux Foundation project that has received major support from industry players including Automattic (the company behind WordPress), Dreamhost, Digital Ocean, and more. The Linux Foundation has announced that the tool has been used to issue 1 million certificates. This number proves there is a lot of value in making the web safer for everyone through encryption.
