The German city of Munich has been applauded in the past for their decisions to embrace the use of open source software in the city government. They had the largest initiative of this type when they completed LiMux, their own custom version of Linux, in 2013 and subsequently deployed it to more than 15,000 city workers’ PCs.
Today, the city appears to be reversing this action as they have been investigating the costs of switching back to Windows and the Exchange email server, and will likely begin a migration back soon.
