In an effort to expand on their successes in medical research apps with the release of ResearchKit, Apple has released CareKit, a framework for making healthcare apps, as open source.
Apple plans to release the software in April, and the company said the software is aimed at making thingsĀ easier for users to track their health and monitor symptoms, medications, and treatment responses and then quickly share that data with medical professionals and loved ones.
Apple has also released a handful of modules along with CareKit, including:
- Care Card – treatment monitoring for things like medication and physical therapy.
- Symptom and Measurement Tracker – Allows users to survey and record their well-being and illness symptoms.
- Insight Dashboard – Allow users to analyze data collected from Care Card.
- Connect – Allow patients to share health records with healthcare professionals, care teams, and family.
