Docker has achieved incredible success in the short two years it has been in existence, but some of the tech companies that have been involved since the early days are beginning to question whether or not the project still lives up to its original goal of making packaging software simpler. CoreOS is one of the companies that has been involved with Docker since its start, but on Monday they announced the release of Rocket, a new competitor to Docker. The company believes Docker has strayed from its original goal of providing a simple, composable unit that can be used in a variety of services to its own platform. CoreOS seeks to remedy this by building Rocket to achieve the early goals of Docker and to provide container architecture that is composable, secure, open, and distributed.
