The Linux Foundation has announced a partnership with 3D Robotics to launch Dronecode: software that controls autonomous vehicles. The goal is to create a system to control robots for a variety of applications including search and rescue, agriculture, mapping, photography, and film. The Linux Foundation is getting involved because of the potential for integration with embedded Linux devices, the Linux kernel itself, and the AllSeen IoT platform. Other founding members of Dronecode are BaiDu, Box, DroneDeploy, Intel, jDrones, LaserNavigation, SkyWard, Squandrone System, wealkera, and Yuneec.
