A panel of investors discussed investments in the OpenStack ecosystem at the recent OpenStack summit in Paris. Large corporations like Red Hat and Cisco are acquiring OpenStack companies and OpenStack provider Mirantis recently raised $100 million in funding. OpenStack still doesn’t completely stand up against other mature cloud platforms like Amazon’s Web Services, but it is growing quickly and the open source nature of it is bringing in greater number of companies both on the developer and user side of OpenStack. In particular, security is still a major issue in OpenStack and any company that provides services in this area could be exceptionally valuable.
