VMware is expanding beyond a virtualization hypervisor provider to offer their own open source distribution of OpenStack named Integrated OpenStack. The product was announced Monday at VMworld 2014 and is a part of their efforts to bring new capabilities to the open, agile, secure software-defined data center. The company seeks to make deploying cloud technologies easier and the hope to attract more developers to the OpenStack ecosystem.
