Microsoft has not been a friend to open source for most of its history, however it seems the company is now attempting to reap the benefits of open source designs. By comparing their platforms to Linux, and through changes to their internal code sharing policies, Microsoft is slowly warming up to open source development, but time will tell how long this relationship lasts.
